After we visited the Carter House we drove to downtown Franklin and walked around.
When you see those quint little downtowns in TV show and movies this is what you see! Downtown Franklin is just like stepping into one of those shows.
They have an old theater that is still in use.
I love Halloween and the stores were already bringing out their Halloween stuff at the end of September.
I fell in love with this horseshoe cross! It was too heavy for the RV so I had to pass, it’s still a learning curve on not buying what I fall in love with. When we buy a house and settle down again, we will be back to this shop they had some great items.
Another thing that caught my eye was the old Gary’s RX sign. It was so well preserved!
Up and down both sides of the street there were bricks with names on them.
Walking down the street you come to this circle and statue.
There were 4 cannons on either side of the statue.
This statue is a memorial for those lost in the Civil War.
We had lunch at the Mellow Mushroom. Review on that to come Tuesday.
After lunch we walked back up the other side of the street. We stopped at the candy store and of course had to pick up some fudge, Mommy’s weakness!
The kids each got a chocolate covered cookie.
This beautiful old church is also on the downtown street. The old bricks and stain glass windows are beautiful!
Coming into downtown from The Carter house you pass another memorial with Flags and cannons as well.
Parking is fairly easy to find and there was great live music and entertainment on the weekend we went. This would be a great way to take in some nice weather!
